Costica is one of the OG R21 cosplay events locally. Also by and large, the most popular and biggger one as well. Having multiple events throughout the year, they are sure an active R21 event.
I had been in the shadows helping out here and there once in a while, especially hanging out with Chanel Yui whenever she is having a booth. And when I got an invitation to perform, it is quite a no brainer. In my first public performance with another similar event, I learnt that it should be more wow, more impactful – hence I went to get myself a portable aerial rig.
People are not too drawn into static / floorwork kind of stuffs, and hence decided to do what I term “circus shibari”. Not exactly the kind of ties and sequence that brings out the emotional essence, but more of showy, flamboyant. The bigger the better kind. Crowds, what can I say? They need to visually salivate, craving for more.
Anyways, once again, I went in totally unrehearsed. Even the music that I blasted of my speakers were just some random playlist I found 10 minutes before the performance. Not that I am unprepared. Is more of I prefer the spontaneous energy to dictate the flow of my ties. Even the energy of the crowd affects my movement. Especially when most of them are barely 1.5m away from me. All in all, can’t wait for my next performance at their show again.
