Lighting for mood

2023 is coming to the end. I hadn’t been too active in doing photoshoots in the last 2 – 3 months. Partially it is due to me wanting to focus on the session instead of abruptly stopping to snap a few pics. But then, I was going on a holiday soon and decided might as well have some pics to edit along the way to keep me occupied on those ‘lull, boring’ nights. (Which never happened anyways)

So, I came up with a ‘few’ shoots to ‘recollect’ my strength – to create a series which is kind of mysterious, elegant and beautiful. And then add it with a dose of my inclination for dark shadowy pictures.

You see, the dark parts gives it a good nice contrast for depicting the mysterious tone. To bring out how shibari is somewhat ‘a mysterious art’ which is so erotic and yet artistic. The picture has to tell the story itself. It is not just the tie, it is the lighting that gives the perception of what kind of picture / scene it was during the tie. The same analogy is, if you watch a horror ghost movie, you do not expect the whole scary scene to be bright and orangey. I did not really change the colour for the lights for this round, but in fact, did a little ‘over the top’ change of colours in post production instead. Anyways, here are some of my favourites.. which I would really want to share on IG but then again… you know… -.-
